WEEKLY NEWS FOR MAY 21

Good evening folks,

It’s that time of year again when the mountain has closed and we look back on the 2025/2026 ski season. I met with Amy Blakeney, the chief operating officer for Sun Peaks Resort LLP who recapped the occupancy reports, visitation levels and weather conditions from November to March in Sun Peaks.

Despite inconsistent weather conditions, the resort had strong visitation levels throughout the season.

“We achieved our second highest skier visitation,” Blakeney said.

Read the full winter recap below.

Next, I discussed the Sun Peaks Centre Stage Production Academy with Theresa St. Louis, the senior manager of events at Tourism Sun Peaks and Lilly McGregor, a previous participant of the program. The academy is back with its second year of the program from May 29 to May 31 at the Sun Peaks Centre. Scroll down to learn more about the program and how to register.

Finally, Hollie listened in as council received an update from the Sun Peaks Housing Authority. Jessie Abraham, the association's housing manager, shared progress on the BC Builds housing development at 1180 Sun Peaks Rd. She touched on potential tenant requirements and more. Read the story below.

Enjoy the weekend Sun Peaks!
