WEEKLY NEWS FOR MARCH 26 |
|
Good afternoon folks,
Can you believe itβs the last full week of March? Where, oh where did the winter go? In just 11 short days the resort will stop the lifts for the season and shift into mountain biking season prep. I chatted with Sam Loxton with Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association to learn more about whatβs on the docket for the summer, as well as how the last year went. He shared a number of developments with us so scroll down to read more.
In newsy-news, the municipality is at risk of losing the final instalment of the Housing Accelerator Fund. The $1.5 million grant is earmarked to speed up housing development and supporting structures, but building permits are lower than expected, throwing the last bit of funding into uncertainty. Learn more in our story below.
Local business Flight Deck Cannabis Co. is working toward a relocation, hoping for a more central spot in the village. But the process is as predictable as your last edibles trip, with a number of hoops to jump through. However, owner Sonya Nasilowski said the move would make sense for locals and visitors, offering cannabis products within walking distance of the village core. We unpacked the process in our article for those curious.
Finally, the annual Ski Down in a Gown was cancelled last week due to adverse snow conditions, but that didnβt kill the vibe. Undeterred by the recreation cancellation, a 50-strong group gathered at Masaβs and raised $1,180 for Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks.
