A recap of the Jan. 27 council meeting

This newsletter is sponsored by VIKE Real Estate Group

An agenda for this meeting is available on the SPMRM website, and you can view a recording of the meeting via the municipality's YouTube channel.

Here are the highlights of the meeting:

TUP 1328 Burfield Dr.

Council approved Temporary User Permit 2025-005 following a public hearing. Director of planning and community services, Demitri Hofer, explained the property previously held a temporary use permit for short term rental use, which expired after multiple renewals. Given the municipality’s broader short term rental policy review is nearing completion, staff recommended approving the permit as a bridging measure until updated policies and bylaw amendments are finalized.

Delegation of Authority Bylaw

Council adopted the Delegation of Authority Bylaw No. 232-2026, which had previously received three readings. The bylaw is intended to improve organizational efficiency, clarify signing authorities and strengthen governance and accountability processes within the municipality.

TUP 4110 Sundance Dr.

Council authorized the issuance of a Notice of Intent to consider the renewal of a TUP for a property located on Sundance Drive. Council noted the importance of clearly documenting compliance history in future reports for consistency.

Building Regulations Amendment Bylaw

Council gave final adoption to the Building Regulations Amendment bylaw No. 233-2026, concluding the bylaw’s approval process.
