WEEKLY NEWS FOR JUNE 18

The mountain bike season kicked off with the opening of the park last Saturday. The day was filled with sunshine and excitement from both the bikers and hikers who came down for the opening. I had such a fun time covering this event, meeting people from all over B.C. who joined for fresh tracks on the trails and complimentary beer at the end of the day. 

Plus, I met up with the O’Tooles to chat about Vertical Cafe renovations! The local staple has reopened and a few new items are making their way onto the menu. Check out the revamp Monday to Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and read more below.

Finally, local business Flight Deck Cannabis Co. was recently approved for rezoning as the owners hope to relocate to the village core, specifically in the Sun Peaks Grand Residences building. Flight Deck Cannabis is looking to relocate, pending lengthy approval process and rezoning application.

SUN PEAKS GEARS UP FOR BUSY SUMMER OF MOUNTAIN BIKING EVENTS 

The Canadian Cup, Junior Downhill and Enduro races are expected to bring hundreds of athletes and visitors to the resort through the summer season.

⛪️ Sun Peaks Church will be holding a service every Sunday evening at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join at the Annex.

📚 The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library’s mobile library visits Sun Peaks School every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Whitecroft Village from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

💪🏽 Join Heffley Creek Hall for Golden Fitness classes, all ages and fitness levels welcome. Dancersize is at 11 a.m., followed by gentle weights at 12:30 p.m., Tai Chi walking at 1:30 p.m., chair pilates at 2 p.m. and chair yoga at 2:30 p.m.
