Did you know a new platform has been launched by the municipality?

I talked with director of operations for the municipality, Clint Burton about the new platform created for residents and guests to submit their non-emergent requests, complaints and concerns to the municipality. 

“I am hoping people feel that the issues they’re raising and the request they’re asking for [is] being managed more thoroughly and expeditiously,” Burton said.

Next, I talked to Megan Pretorius, 15-year-old winner of the Dunbar Summer Series 2026 Canadian National Downhill Championships about her weekend on the hill. From an unlucky start to the season with a broken collarbone, Pretorius has excelled, finishing with the fastest time of the day among the female competitors.

Finally, the Heartland Country Festival has been postponed until a later date. I talked to Naomi Kerchinsky, executive director of Tourism Sun Peaks about plans for rescheduling. Live music has been booked for the weekend and Sun Peaks remains open and welcomes all guests.

“We are still trying to make sure that we’re providing a nice experience for those that either can’t change their reservations or still just want to come and have a nice weekend in Sun Peaks,” Kerchinsky said.

🏘 BC Assessment is reminding owners of legacy strata lots to complete their reporting form by Aug. 31. Failure to do so could result in the property being reclassified as Class 6 - Business and Other, which will lead to significantly higher property taxes. The municipality is encouraging affected owners to submit the required information on time. For more information click here.
