WEEKLY NEWS FOR MAY 14

Good afternoon folks,

This week, I talked to chief administrative officer Deanna Campbell about the Sun Peaks Health Association, which the municipality is pushing to reestablish.

The goal is to review the association’s bylaws and transition the board, which is currently council and one community member, to a community-led board.

β€œThe municipality would support the health association taking on the work to get the health centre re-opened, eliminating the need for the municipality to pay for and engage external contracted support through a consultant,” Campbell said.

Read more about the next steps to reestablish the association below.

Plus, I chatted with Johnny Crichton and Wade Rettie about the spring BC Alpine Mega camp held at Sun Peaks Resort. They talked about what it meant for Sun Peaks to be chosen for this year’s camp, which brought over 200 athletes to the mountain each day. Scroll down to learn more about the impact and success the mega camp brought to the Sun Peaks community.

Finally, the Sun Peaks Volunteer Fire Department Society is looking for a beneficiary to partner with for the 2026 firefighter’s gala. Tomorrow is the last day to apply to be a beneficiary, so if you work with a local community organization, get your submission in! Read more below.

Have a great weekend Sun Peaks!
