WEEKLY NEWS FOR FEB. 19 |
|
Good morning folks!
I hope you had a great long weekend! As we are getting back to the swing of things, here are some of the stories we wanted to share with you.
SPINβs editor, Hollie Ferguson, worked on an in-depth explanation of the Sun Peaks Community Health Centre Working Groupβs report to learn more about the vision for reopening the clinic. While the working group provided recommendations for potential operating structures, these are guidelines and the final outcome may differ. Chief administrative officer Deanna Campbell said more concrete information should be available toward the end of the month, and we will be sure to update you when we can.
Weβve added this story to our dedicated landing page, and all of our coverage regarding this process, including an FAQ article for quick reference, can be found here.
Our amazing contributor, Lousie Hudson, worked on two stories this week, both of which can be found in our February print issue on shelves around the village now.
The first one takes a peek into the Alpine Fondue and Ski Experience running until March 12. Take the Sunburst Express chairlift, then have the experience of dipping all sorts of delights into cheese and finish it off with going down the 5 Mile Run. To read more on this unique on-mountain activity scroll down.
Plus, the International Rotary Ski Fellowship (ISFR) will be taking place at Sun Peaks this March! Every year, ISFR chooses a destination for a week-long retreat during which they focus on fundraising for the local adaptive sports organization. This year funds will go to support Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP). Hudson chatted with Katherine Campbell, executive director of ASSP about this opportunity.
βWe are excited to share the wonderful work being done by ASSP,β Campbell said. βParticipants will have the opportunity to tour our equipment room, meet instructors and students, and hear first-hand the impactful stories of our members.β
